A rchbishop's Mansion

Take one part country bed & breakfast, add one part small, sophisticated European hotel, one part gracious Historic Landmark home (built for the Archbishop in 1904), and blend with antique-filled rooms and a friendly staff. In 1979, Jonathan Shannon and Jeffrey Ross, the current owners, purchased the building and spent two-and-a-half years renovating it. None of the furniture or carpeting is original except for the chandelier in the entry hall. The chandelier in the parlor is originally from the classic "Gone With The Wind."

Cosi Fan Tutte is a spacious suite with French doors separating the bedroom from the living room. The living room has a fireplace and city views.

There are ten sumptuous rooms and five suites. Most of the guest rooms have fireplaces and are beautifully furnished and dressed in period costume. Two have double Jacuzzi tubs, and all have private bath and phone.

The suites are named for operas: The Don Giovanni Suite has an exquisite parlor with massive fireplace, a second fireplace in the large bedroom with a carved, antique four-poster bed from a French castle.

The Gypsy Baron Suite has a four-poster canopy king bed, large sitting area with fireplace, and double tub in the bath.

2003 Daily Double Rates: Intimate Rooms from $165. Intimate Fireplace Rooms from $205 . Romantic Fireplace Rooms from $225 . Romantic Jacuzzi Rooms from $225. Grand Suites from $285. All rates are subject to availability, city tax and change without notice (San Francisco city tax is currently 14%). All rates are based on single or double occupancy. Check in time is 3pm and check out is 12 noon. Rates include: Complimentary continental breakfast, a wine and cheese reception, plus free parking. All major credit cards accepted.
