Blantyre
{short description of image}
Built in 1902, Blantyre is a beautifully restored and preserved Gothic fantasy - a faithful replica of a peaked and turreted Elizabethan manor house. On more than 100 acres in the Berkshires, it is a secluded world of its own. There is a heated pool and spa, croquet and tennis.

The Main House is the centerpiece of the property and has 8 bedrooms - 5 magnificent ones, representing a by-gone era, and 3 charming rooms with the same attention to detail that is the hallmark of Blantyre. All Main House rooms are located on the second floor.

The Laurel Suite is a large room decorated with Mrs. Jane Fitzpatrick's favourite wallpaper. The queen size bed sits in a large bay window, facing south, leaving space for a comfortable sofa and 2 period chairs by the fireplace. The design of the room is taken from the pink of the original tiles around the fireplace.

The Blue Room is painted with a soft, almost heather blue colour and has a king size bed, comfortable chairs in front of the fireplace and period painted furniture. The curtains are made of Schumacher fabric by our seamstress, Martha, and they accentuate the stature of this room. The room has large windows overlooking the lawns, gardens and hills to the south. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, soaking tub and marble sink.

The Bouquet Room has a pretty yellow and green flowered wallpaper, a queen, four-poster bed with cream coloured bedding, overstuffed cushions and rich textured window drapes. There is a desk, 2 armchairs and footstool over a light moss coloured carpet. The bathroom has a tub and shower combination and is decorated with another pretty floral wallpaper.

The Carriage House was one of the original buildings and is located about 200 yards away from the Main House, close to the pool area. It was converted in the 1960s and re-done in 1981 when the Fitzpatricks bought Blantyre. Since then, the rooms have been extensively redecorated, using beautiful wallpapers and fabrics and having the same care and attention to detail that is the hallmark of Blantyre.
