|
| This resort is extremely conscious of the environment and the
impact of people on the beauty of the South Pacific. The resort was
built on what once was a coconut plantation, and features
twenty-five individual and spacious Fijian style, thatched-roof
bures (boo-rays) with spectacular ocean views. |
|
|
| The bures feature wicker furniture and local timbers to create
an authentic and natural environment. There are no telephones or
televisions in the bures, and the resort prohibits fishing and jet
skiing. |
|
|
| The bathrooms are tiled with gorgeous Italian tile with two
sink basins. There are showers, no tubs. Room amenities include:
hair dryers, cotton robes in solid colors, shampoo, conditioner, and
body wash. |
|
|
| The local waters are designated as a marine sanctuary, which
encourages diving and non-disruptive underwater exploration. |
|
|
| Activities include: scuba diving (the resort is a PADI
certified dive operation), snorkeling, Hobie-Cat sailing, kayaking,
underwater photography, swimming pool, tennis court, nature hikes,
and bird watching. |

| All bures have private decks, king-size beds, plus a day bed.
Honor bars in bures are complimentary and stocked with mineral
waters, soft drinks, juices, other non-alcoholic beverages, and
snacks. French coffee and teas are also provided in all bures. |
|
|
| Two oceanfront 2-bedroom bures have one king bed plus a day bed
in the master bedroom, and two twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. The
brand-new oceanfront split-level bures (opened July 1998) have one
king bed and two day beds, and are the most spacious and private
accommodations offered at the resort. The oceanfront split-level
bures are situated at the very tip of the point of land on which the
resort is located. |
|
|
| Dining in the open-air Cousteau Fiji is informal, and features
International and Fijian cuisine, augmented by an impressive wine
list. Children's menus are available, as well as luncheon served in
the restaurant, poolside, or in the room. Gourmet picnic lunches to
a private island, and romantic dinners at pier's end are also
available. |
|
|
| The three airlines that fly to Fiji from the United States are
Air Pacific, Qantas, and Air New Zealand. These airlines operate the
International leg of the trip to Fiji, flying from Los Angeles to
Nadi (the International Airport on Viti Levu Island). All three
airlines depart from Los Angeles only. Once in Nadi (pronounced
Nan-di) it is necessary to take a domestic airline from Nadi to
Savusavu, located on Vanua Levu Island. The two airlines which
operate to Savusavu are Air Fiji and Sunflower. |
