| The genius of Oliver Messel has contrived to create a
characteristically theatrical façade of coral stone pillars and arches,
which, together with the house's gloriously massive windows, provide a
magnificent frame for breathtaking panoramas of lush gardens and the sparkling
Caribbean Sea beyond. |
| First constructed in the late 1940's, Crystal Springs was
redesigned by Oliver Messel in the 1960's, and more recently redecorated by the
present owners. The impressive main house is entered through an imposing hall,
leading into a spacious sitting room, an alfresco dining terrace, kitchen and
staff's quarters. |
| All of the bedrooms feature air-conditioning and ensuite
baths. |
| Stairways and paths lead down to the beach both from the
gully and the terraces above, while steps to the terrace's east allow easy
access to a large swimming pool set amidst bougainvillea and shady young
mahogany trees. |
| Located to the east of the main house is the charming tea
house cottage, a one bedroom suite with kitchen facilities, sitting room, and a
terrace overlooking tropical plantings and colorful lily ponds. Close at hand
is the pavilion, that consists of two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and a
gym equipped with stationary bike, multi gym, and table tennis. |
