| The ambiance of the hotel is enhanced by the botanical
gardens planted and nurtured by the original owner, Peggy Mills in the 1930's.
| All of the guestrooms offer a view of the gardens, and are
decorated with traditional imported yew or mahogany furnishings, brass and iron
beds, oak hardwood floors, china lamps, and beveled glass accent mirrors. |
| Our favorite accommodations are: The two-bedroom, two-bath
Master Suite located in the main house is reached via a private elevator that
opens into an intimate sitting room, decorated in the traditional style with
soft peach walls, floral print curtains, and oak hardwood floors. |
| Triple French doors lead to a large private deck that
overlooks the gardens and the pool. |
| Our final favorite accommodation is in another of the
original buildings, a Bahama-style "eyebrow" cottage, named for the slanting
roof which partially covers the second-level windows. |
| A buffet-style breakfast is served in the Garden room, or
alfresco on the adjoining brick porch. The Gardens Hotel is conveniently
located in Old Town Key West and is close to restaurants, shopping, and area
attractions. |
