| This resort by the sea sits on a golden sand
beach that stretches for miles and is virtually deserted. |
| The kitchen is one of Belize's most modern and
well equipped, and all of the cuisine is made from local ingredients. Breakfast
is served on the patio overlooking the Caribbean and includes fresh orange
juice, locally grown coffee, fresh baked banana bread, eggs, waffles, french
toast, or pancakes. |
| The seven thatched-roof, beachfront cabanas
with a total of 14 rooms are simply furnished and comfortable (we recommend
requesting an air-conditioned cabana). |
| Dinner is served in the dining room and on the
patio with candlelight, soft music, and a choice of many entrées
including lobster, chicken, beef, pork, grilled fish, and more. |
| A very enjoyable trip is the full-day
snorkeling tour, which begins with a stop to explore the Blue Ground Range, a
string of mangrove cayes eight miles east of the lodge. The next stop is the
Belize Barrier Reef, which is the longest unbroken barrier reef in the world,
stretching 200 miles, spanning the entire length of Belize. A fantastic day of
snorkeling and exploring one of the most pristine and unexplored reefs in the
world. |

| Activities include mountain bikes, kayaks, and guided tours
that include trips to Mayan Ruins, the Rainforest, Cayes, and the Barrier Reef.
Suzette & Mark enjoyed several two-person Kayak trips exploring the
mangrove cayes and the town of Hopkins a short paddle down the beach. |
| There is a swimming pool, plus excellent swimming in the
Caribbean directly in front of the lodge, with no boat traffic or turtle grass
underfoot. Watch for dolphin or a manatee or walk the beach for hours without
seeing another person. |
| From the cabana deck, guests can view manatees feeding in
the shallow surf a few yards away. |
| Each cabana has a queen-size bed, refrigerator, ice-maker,
tile floors, and tile bath with tub/shower. Cabana #1 and Cabana #14 are the
farthest from the main lodge and offer the most privacy. |
| Inland tours include hiking in the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar
Preserve, where it is possible to see jaguar, jaguarundi, peccary, howler
monkey, gibnut, agouti, snakes, coatamundi, and over 300 species of birds. |
