This magnificent estate's origins go back to the year 550 A.D, when it was known as Straffan House. Ownership of the property was held by prominent titled families until 1988 when it was purchased by the Smurfit Group and opened as a hotel in July 1991.

The twenty-five garden suites, which are adjacent to the main house, are accessed by a covered walkway and have two bedrooms with a lounge /dining area and kitchen.
