Las Mañanitas
This small, twenty-two room inn is located 85 kilometers south of Mexico City and may be reached by car or bus, via a pleasant drive through pine forests and small villages.
Even Cortes himself intended to retire in Cuernavaca and built a palace, which is now a regional museum.
There is a gentleness and amicability about the staff, which makes one feel at home.
Las Mañanitas has been honored with the Travel Holiday Magazine and "DiRoNA Award" for fine dining every year since 1968.
The gardens are enhanced by a number of fountains, a Japanese pond with exotic birds, and an imposing collection of the Francisco Zúñiga sculptures.
There are countless excursions to be made within Cuernavaca, including the Potter's community of San Anton, Teopanzolco Pyramid, Borda Garden, etc. In Cuernavaca itself, there is a flower festival in the spring and celebrations to mark the Day of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd each year. You can also make excursions out of Cuernavaca to the picturesque village of Tepoztlán, with it's steep cobbled streets and ruins in the surrounding National Park, the Olmec-style rock carvings of Chalcatzingo, and the Xochicalco Pyramids. The really adventurous may wish to climb the Popocatepetl.

At an altitude of 5,000 feet, Cuernavaca is 724 meters lower than Mexico City and its spring-like weather all year round has made it a popular retreat since the days when the Aztec nobility lived there.
A feeling of serenity pervades every aspect of a guest's stay, which comes from a combination of factors: the peaceful garden setting, the finely appointed suites each overlooking a garden or with its own private patio.
Our favorite rooms are the Garden Suites (we prefer rooms away from the noisy dining area) with a king-size bed, dressing room, bath, walk in closet, living room with fireplace, and large covered terrace overlooking the private garden and pool.
Enjoy a romantic al fresco dinner with a vintage bottle of wine.
One of the greatest glories of Las Mañanitas are it's gardens that provide a beautiful setting with a large swimming pool, immaculately maintained lawns, and a great variety of plants and flowers.
