Little Dix Bay
A 96-room luxury resort surrounded by 500 acres of lush, tropical wilderness, Little Dix Bay was built by Laurance Rockefeller, and opened in 1964. The 1/2-mile, crescent shaped beach is considered one of the best in the Caribbean.
Casually elegant interiors in a palette of bright, pastel colors with handcrafted furnishings from the Pacific Rim.
Some cottages and villas are six-sided hexagons that feature fieldstone walls, peaked roofs, and exposed beams.
We recommend the Premium Cottages #7, #8, #19, and #20 located on the most beautiful part of the beach, and #109-#112, #121, and #122 located on the hillside offering great views of the bay.
All accommodations have patios and porches to take advantage of soothing breezes fro Virgin Gorda's trade winds.
Designed to blend in with the landscape, rooms are nestled among sea grape trees and bougainvillea and not visible from the water, ensuring ultimate privacy.
Specializing in light Italian cuisine with accent on seafood, the Sugar Mill is relaxed dining at its best. During the day, splashes of colorful bougainvillea cover the rooftops, and guests dine in the sun. By night, guests dine under the stars by the sea. It has the reputation of being the most intimate of the three dining facilities at night (no children under age 5).
In addition to enjoying the beaches at Little Dix, private water taxis transport guests to 13 other local beaches, each with its own unique character.
Little Dix Bay is located on the northwest corner of Virgin Gorda, just off the Sir Francis Drake Channel in the British Virgin Islands, 90 miles east of Puerto Rico and 26 miles northeast of St. Thomas.

Managed by Rosewood Hotels since 1993, Little Dix recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, which added custom-made furnishings, and fabrics that create a casually elegant ambience.
In addition to the large windows, each room is equipped with modern conveniences such as phones, refrigerators, and safes. Just over half of the rooms are equipped with air conditioning.
The service at Little Dix Bay is gracious and efficient with a three-to-one, employee-guest ratio. A new fitness facility was just completed, equipped with state-of-the-art stairmasters, treadmills, and free weights.
The suites have a spacious bathroom with an oversized bathtub and a separate shower.
Deluxe Cottages are positioned on stilts, these air-conditioned rooms are nestled in the sea grapes a few yards from the beach. These unique, hexagonal-shaped rooms are grouped in pairs and have an expansive downstairs patio with hammock and upper sun deck.
The Pavilion with its distinctive, four conical shingled roofs offers diners great views of the Caribbean Sea. A breakfast and lunch buffet, plus afternoon tea and candlelight dinners, are all enjoyed in The Pavilion.
The pristine, half-mile crescent beach is considered one of the finest in the world. A coral reef just off the beach provides excellent snorkeling and protects the bay, ensuring calm water for swimming year round. Recreation includes: boat rentals, deep sea fishing, hiking trails, scuba/snorkeling, seven all-weather tennis courts, sailing, waterskiing, and windsurfing.
Accessible by air via Tortola, just a 20-minute boat trip on the resort's private catamaran from Tortola's Beef Island Airport; or via San Juan or St. Thomas. A valid passport is required to visit the British Virgin Islands.
