|
| The location exudes an atmosphere of true serenity and
sweetness and anyone exposed to it will be awestruck. Perhaps this feeling has
been instilled by the generations that have loved and respected this village.
Perhaps it is because in the last seven hundred years of existence it has
changed owners only once. |
|
|
| In the area around the Locanda dell'Amorosa are Siena,
Arezzo, Perugia, the Val d'Orcia with Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino, the
producers of the great Tuscan wines, superb extra virgin olive oil; the
fascinating "clay hills" of Siena with San Giovanni d'Asso's precious white
truffles. |
|
|
| Once upon a time, in the XIVth century, there was a small
village called Amorosa... today the owners have turned the ancient stables into
a restaurant; filled the old cellars with a careful selection of wines and
placed guest rooms in the manor. |
|
|
| Some guest rooms open directly to the outdoors to give the
sense of having a place of one's own. |
|
|
| There are a total of 25 guest rooms and suites each offers
a private bath, refrigerator, satellite TV, externally accessible telephone,
air conditioning, and ample private parking. |
|
|
| During restoration, great care was taken to respect the
original design. The cuisine is inspired by regional tradition, yet has been
refined to suit modern Italian tastes. Chef Davide Canella masterfully prepares
regional Tuscan specialties intrinsic to the traditional cuisine that include
salami from Trequanda, home made pasta, Chianino beef, farm - grown poultry,
produce and herbs, cheeses from the Pienza hills, and home-made desserts. The
precious white truffles from the San Giovanni d'Asso "crete senesi" and the
Extra Virgin Olive Oil "l'Olio di Podere" from Castelmuzio add the final touch
to the flavor and aroma of typical Tuscan cuisine. |

sunflowers, creating an ideal environment for walks in the countryside. |
|
|
| Today, as then, the Amorosa is a well - cultivated farm.
Here, within the walls of the village once inhabited by both owners and workers
alike, in March 1971 the Locanda dell'Amorosa came to life, the modern chapter
of an ancient history. |

face the lodgings the peasants at one time inhabited. |
