This three-story white clapboard luxury hotel radiates the warmth of a gracious guesthouse, and proudly takes its place on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Marquesa's main building was built in 1884 in a Greek-Revival style and is set around two swimming pools, a three-tiered waterfall and a lushly landscaped garden.
The Junior Suites have one king size bed plus a living room grouping with sleeper sofa, a covered porch with breakfast table and lounge chairs.
The Standard Rooms have one queen-size bed and are located in the main house.
The Deluxe Rooms have one queen size bed plus a living room grouping with sleeper sofa, or two queen size beds.
The 48-seat Marquesa features an eat-in bar, canterra-stone floors, stippled golden-yellow walls, large bay windows and mahogany wall mirrors, and a hand painted l'oeil wall with a view for guests to watch the chefs at work. Executive Chef Susan Ferry named as one of South Florida's "Six Chefs to watch" serves "New World Cuisine" with influences from North, South, Central America, Asia and the Caribbean.
Located in the heart of Key West on the corner of Flemington and Simonton streets, The Marquesa is one block from Duval Street (the main commercial street), and within walking distance of area attractions, restaurants, galleries, shopping and nightlife.

This small luxury hotel consists of four buildings with a total of 27 rooms. Each of the guestrooms and suites are decorated in a mix of traditional and tropical, rich fabrics and antiques blending effortlessly with white wicker and fresh flowers. Each guestroom has a marble bath, central air, telephone, cable TV, bathrobes ceiling fans and security safe.
The interior designer developed an eclectic look by mixing West Indies-style reproductions with modern fabrics and furnishings, including hand-carved, 400-pound Agathus sleigh beds from Indonesia, four-poster iron beds from the Philippines, and yew wood armoires from England.
The Poolside Standard Rooms are located poolside have one queen size bed, and a shared deck.
Each suite features a living room area, private outdoor porch with lounge chairs, and a breakfast table.
The menu changes daily and features fresh seafood, tropical fruits, vegetables and herbs. A few dishes from a recent menu included: Appalachiacola Bay Fried Oysters with Watercress, Haricots Verts & Lemon Aioli; Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Thai Basil Sauce, Sticky Rice, Enoki Mushrooms & Stir Fry Vegetables; Mango & Banana Rum Baba with Mango Butter.
Situated only five blocks from the Gulf of Mexico and ten blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel provides easy access to a variety of watersports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing. Concierge, room service, daily newspaper. Children 12 and older are welcome.
