| Necker Island was developed by and is owned by British
entrepreneur Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Atlantic Airways and the numerous
other companies run by the Virgin Group. |
| The original intent was to build a home that Branson's
family and friends could use for holidays, while keeping the island as
unspoiled as possible. When the project was completed, it seemed such a waste
to use the house only a few weeks a year, that Branson decided to make it
available for rent. |
| The Main House, a majestic, airy Balinese villa, sits atop
a hill on this 74-acre island and is the principal guest accommodation. This
ten-bedroom villa has a master bedroom with Jacuzzi and nine bedrooms that can
be either king or twin bedded, all with private bathroom. |
| One of three freshwater pools seems to blend into the
tourquiose Caribbean. |
| Necker's chef is Andrew Clay. Prior to Necker Island, Chef
Clay held the position of Nead Chef at the Waterloo House in Bermuda. |
| Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are as informal or formal as
guests dictate, and the pace, time, and location of meals are guided by guests'
preferences. |
| In addition to the Main House, two authentic one bedroom
Balinese Houses have been constructed on The Island, increasing its guest
capacity to 26 people. |
| "Bali Hi" and "Bali Lo" each have private swimming pools
and open-air lounging and dining areas. |
| Meals can be served either in the dining room or at various
locations around The Island.Guests can allow the Island staff to make all of
the arrangements for them or can create settings and menus to their specific
likes and whims. |
| There are no 7:30am breakfast gongs, no harassed desk
clerks hammering on your door and asking when you are checking out. Life on
Necker Island proceeds at the pace you set. That is what this piece of paradise
is, a place to escape and do whatever you want, a place where even the tautest
nerves can relax. |
