Post Hotel Lake Louise

The Post Hotel has long been a familiar landmark in Banff National Park, having first opened its doors in the spring of 1942.

The owner, a British aircraft manufacturer by the name of Sir Norman Watson, held a strong vision for the future of skiing in the Canadian Rockies, so the "Ski Lodge" seemed an appropriate name.

There are 98 unique guest rooms, including eighteen luxurious deluxe suites, two riverside cabins, and a variety of room layouts are available.

At the Post Hotel, guests have the opportunity to experience the warm ambience of one of Banff National Park's remaining historic log lodges.

In its early years, the Post was known as the Lake Louise Ski Lodge.

Despite this close association with skiing, the Lodge's popularity grew with the ever-increasing number of summer visitors and it was the expanding summer season, among other things, that brought about the name change to "The Post Hotel" in 1957.

Over time, the familiar brown log building with the bright red tin roof had become the heart of the Village of Lake Louise. The Canadian Pacific Railway station was just minutes away, the Post Office shared the same parcel of land as the Hotel, and the Village's main road ran past the Post's front doors.

In 1978, Sir Norman Watson sold the Post to the present owners: André and George Schwarz. Since then, The Schwarzes embarked on sizeable expansion and renovation projects to revive the historic Hotel and ensure its pre-eminence in the new millenium.
