A short one-hour flight from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale into Governor's Harbor or Rock Sound on Eleuthera in the Bahamas and you are almost in paradise. The security gate that guards the entrance to the one-lane bridge separating Eleuthera from Windermere Island is a 40 minute drive from Governor's Harbor or Rock Sound.

Known only to a handful of wealthy homeowners and members of England's Royal Family, this destination is a well guarded secret.

This magnificent villa, completed in 2003, is one of Windermere's finest beachfront estates. The owner is a designer and, with beautiful furnishings to complement the construction, has created an atmosphere of total luxury using the natural pristine beauty of the island as his canvas.

Sea Lily Cottage is built on approximately 3 acres poised between the Atlantic and Savannah Sound with world-class ocean views. All creature comforts have been thought of, from privacy to the luxury bed linens. The home comes equipped with 7 televisions (with DVD and VCR) sattelite TV and high speed Internet access.

Sea Lily's housekeeper changes the bed linen in the elegant south cottage master bedroom. During my stay, the staff changed the bed linen daily. They don't believe that guests should sleep on the same bed linen for more than one night.

Pictured above is the large bedroom in the apartment on the ground level located under the north cottage. There is an outside entrance that leads to a private dining terrace.

The apartment also features a fully equipped kitchen and full bath.

The two storied kitchen house features custom louvered cabinets, granite counter tops, professional 48" stove with two ovens and range, large microwave oven, Subzero refridgerator/freezer, Bosch Diswasher, Bosch Washer & Dryer, water purification system, and three stainless steel sinks. The entire kitchen house is air-conditioned by a central system. On the ground level of the kitchen house, there is a gym or extra bedroom, a storage room, laundry room, and full marble bath.

The estate consists of four buildings with approximately 4,000 sq ft of living space, two garages, a large marble terrace (3,500 square feet) and a 40ft x 20ft (10 ft in depth) pool elevated dramatically over the Atlantic.

The lavish infinity edge pool offers relief from the tropical sun and spectacular views of the beach.

Sea Lily Cottage offers guests complete privacy, as the terraces are all walled and connected to make one marbled courtyard and there are two gates to protect the estate from outside intrusion. In addition, there is a computer-operated camera surveillance security system which covers the entire property.

A treelined road, with the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other, leads you to a special hideaway known as Sea Lily Cottage.

Travertine marble has been used throughout the interior and exterior to add an old world patina. The roofs are redwood cedar, contrasting with the buildings that are painted an ever so light blush pink to duplicate the sand of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

On either side of the outdoor great room are two separate buildings. The south cottage (pictured above) houses, on the ground level, a two car garage. On the second level is a bedroom with marble bath, and a large living room with wet bar and vaulted ceilings. The living room is surrounded on three sides by eight-foot French doors with matching transoms. As with the rest of the estate, the cottage has aged marble flooring and central air-conditioning.

The north cottage is a duplicate of the south cottage with the exception that, on the ground level, there is a separate apartment.

The living room of the apartment features a sleeper sofa, dining table and entertainment center with cable TV and surround sound stereo.

The outdoor dining terrace, accessed from the apartment, boasts privacy and ocean views.

For guests who enjoy a barbecue there is a fabulous gas grill with all of the bells and whistles.

The great room, with its antique French dining table, will comfortably seat 10 guests.

The beach pavilion is a perfect place to enjoy a bit of shade, a meal or beverage, and the gentle sounds of the sea.

The five mile long beach in front of Sea Lily is one of the most beautiful that I have seen in the Caribbean. During a recent visit, I walked for more then an hour and my footprints were the only marks in the sand.

2007 Weekly Rates: High Season...January 1 to April 15...$24,500. Mid-Season...April 16 to September 9 ..$22,500. Low season...September 10 to December 15...$20,000. Staff is included in the rates. Add a 15% staff gratuity to rates. Maximum accommodations for sleeping is 10. Owner will provide suggested menus and will provision the villa per guests requirements at additional cost.
