Stonepine
Designed in the late 1920's, and built as the home of the late Henry Potter and Helen Crocker Russell of the San Francisco banking family, the pale pink villa is set in a glen of 80-foot Italian stone pines, and surrounded by Mediterranean-style gardens.
The Equestrian Center offers four different regimens in horsemanship: hunter-jumping, dressage, Western, and competitive driving, and the stables boast a good variety of breeds.
Thirteen luxurious accommodations in nine suites, three guest rooms, and a cottage. Most accommodations have king-bed, each with private bath and Jacuzzi tub, and many with wood-burning fireplace, and are located in the original home, Chateau Noël, or the Paddock House.
The choicest suites are in the Chateau. The Taittinger Suite offers king-bed, fireplace, marble roman bath with Jacuzzi, two baths, dressing rooms, and separate sitting room.
The Paddock House has a large veranda and lawn, and its guests have use of a complete kitchen, and dining room.

An Equestrian Center dates to the 1930s, when the Double H Ranch, a pre-eminent California Thoroughbred breeding farm, occupied a larger tract of 6,000 acres. Stonepine is currently a 330-acre country estate, graced by mature gardens and landscaping, and surrounded by Santa Lucia mountain vistas.
In addition to horsing around, facilities include tennis courts, soccer field, swimming pool, archery range, croquet field, and weight room; bicycles available, too.
The Briar Rose Cottage is romantic, with porch, rose garden, rustic stone fireplace, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, and TV/entertainment room with private bar.
The Don Quixote suite is hidden behind concealed doors in the first floor Library, with king-bed, two baths, sitting room with fireplace, and French doors opening to a private garden and patio; the Venetian Suite is light and airy, with separate entrance, canopied king-bed, and balcony overlooking the pool and gardens.
Stonepine Estate is twenty-five minutes from the Monterey Airport which offers frequent flights to/from San Francisco and Los Angeles. The estate is in close proximity to the Big Sur coastline, the art galleries and restaurants of quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea. Located 12 miles from Highway 1 and the Pacific Ocean, the area is blessed with a sunny, temperate climate throughout the year.
