On the Pacific coastline known as the "Mexican Riviera," 150 miles northwest of Acapulco, lies the picturesque fishing village of Zihuatanejo, only four miles from the resort destination of Ixtapa.

The hotel's 45 rooms and suites are located in beautiful adobe-like villas amidst luxuriant tropical gardens. Strolling along winding pathways, you catch glimpses of private terraces with large woven hammocks and mosaic-tiled minipools hidden behind bushes of brilliantly colored hibiscus.

The 55 individually designed rooms and suites are tucked away in several two-story casitas amidst luxuriant tropical gardens.

The split-level suite has a king size canopied bed, sitting area, bathroom finished in indigenous marble, and balcony or terrace with a hammock. Each suite has telephone, satellite television, double insulated windows, adjustable air conditioning and ceiling fan, minibar and electronic safe. Some have a private outdoor minipool.

At two in the afternoon when the sun is directly overhead and you look for your own shadow on the beach in vain, a dip in one of the four swimming pools will feel just perfect.

Playing cards, backgammon and chess are available, but be warned that drinking any more than two of Orlando's heady rum punches could seriously damage your chances of winning.

Chef Fabrice and his knowledgeable kitchen staff pride themselves in creating fine international cuisine and Mexican inspired dishes with an emphasis on local ingredients and only the freshest seafood in the hotel's open-air palapa restaurant.

If you want to cool off, roll out of your lounge chair right into the pool next to the restaurant, let the aqueduct splash cool water on your head and scoot up to the swim-up bar. The cheerful bartenders will know just what to serve you to keep your body temperature within the normal range.

Arrange for a lesson with the tennis pro on one of the two floodlit tennis courts, or work on your back stroke in Villa del Sol's 60 ft. lap pool.

There are two world-class 18-hole golf courses nearby - a Robert Trent Jones and a Robert van-Hagge. Both have equipment for rental. For sport fishing enthusiasts, Villa del Sol will arrange deep-sea fishing excursions on a stunning private yacht complete with an experienced captain and crew. The same yacht, by the way, will also take you and an icebox filled with gourmet fare out for a romantic ocean getaway.

The rooms and suites are equipped with all the amenities that will make your stay as pleasant as possible: direct dial phones that let you stay in touch with the outside world, adjustable air conditioning and ceiling fans for a cool head, fluffy towels for a fun day on the beach and Lord & Mayfair soaps and shampoos to prevent too much bleached hair afterwards. Comfortable bathrobes and electric hairdryers help you get ready for dinner in style.

The tropical gardens are in immaculate shape so that you can take a leisurely stroll along the meandering pathways or find a comfortable bench under a shady tree. A friendly army of gardeners makes sure that the grass is always green and the hibiscus and bougainvillea are always full of blossoms.

Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to scheduled arrival date are not refundable. Any departure prior to pre-scheduled departure date will result in a penalty for the full stay.
