| The Wauwinet is located nine miles from Nantucket center on
the northeast end of the island near a wildlife preserve. It is flanked by
Nantucket Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The historic inn is the only one on the
island where guests can enjoy both the lively surf of the Atlantic and the calm
warmer waters of Nantucket Bay. |

|
| Tucked in right next door to a wildlife sanctuary, The
Wauwinet is a sanctuary itself. It is white lawn chairs. It is Herman Melville
on the bedstand. It is a glass of brandy by a crackling, late autumn fire. It
is the diversity of spring color after the monochrome of winter. It is an urge
to walk barefoot on the beach wearing your best dress. It is total privacy. It
is a group of congenial friends. |

| Nantucket Island is a kind of distillation of everything
that is wonderful about New England. Quaint is practically an understatement
when speaking of Nantucket, and it's absolutely never considered a
condescending adjective. Only on Nantucket can such descriptors as "quaint and
sophisticated", "earthy and elegant" accurately define anything when used in
unison. |
|
|
| Nantucket Town, nine miles from The Wauwinet, is full of
historic and cultural attractions. Complimentary jitney service makes the trip
