Wit's End Ranch
Wit's End Guest Ranch & Resort is the creation of Jim Custer, located in the beautiful Vallecito Lake Valley and surrounded by 12,000 foot and 14,000 foot granite peaks. Nestled amongst a thick carpet of aspen and pine, Wit's End is known worldwide for luxurious accommodations, world class fly fishing and a great children's program. As well as, fine dining and a superb horse program.
The one- to four-bedroom log cabins are situated around the property to accord guests the best possible views of the surroundings
Adult evening entertainment begins before dinner with a social cocktail hour which gives all guests a chance to mingle and muse over the day's adventures and also sign-up for activities for the following day. During and after dinner, an eclectic mix of country and popular live music is provided by local and national talents.
The rivers, streams, ponds and lakes that surround the ranch abound with trout of all varieties. There are three private trout ponds on the property and access to half a mile of nearby Vallecito River (no license required).

The Lodge is conveniently located 30 minutes from Durango, Colorado and just six short hours (by land) from Denver and Colorado Springs. Air service is provided by America West, United Express, American Airlines and Continental on a non-stop basis from Denver, Phoenix, Dallas and Houston. All flights arrive Las Plata County Airport located in Durango.

Wit's End Guest Ranch & Resort is committed to providing the best vacation possible for its guests. The activities are structured but not mandatory. So you can feel perfectly free to do as much or as little as you please.
All cabins include the following: queen-sized bed(s) with down comforters and feather pillows, sofa bed, alarm clocks, stone fireplace, full kitchen with fine china, bathroom(s) with tub/shower combo, over-sized towels, robes, TV/VCR (videos available at the office), telephone, separate dinning areas, living rooms, French Doors, balloon draperies, Berber carpets, porch swing and much more.
Every meal is prepared and served in or around the center piece of the ranch, "The Old Lodge at the Lake" This 130 year old renovated barn is three stories of old world charm and class.
Every morning you will begin with steaming hot coffee or tea, warm muffins, buttermilk biscuits, and a beautifully prepared fresh fruit plate. Then you can choose your breakfast. The Dinner menus will vary from Classic French to Classic Western BBQ.

2005 Daily Rates: June-August...Small 1 Bedroom cabin, 2-4 persons (2 persons) - $4,906 - $5,389. Larger 1 Bedroom cabin, 2-5 persons (2 persons) - $6,473 . 3 or 4 bedroom cabin, 5-14 persons (2 persons) - $6,983...Extra Persons (adults) - $2,973. All cabins. Children (ages 4-12) - $1,963. Nannies in room with children- $1,738. Rates are all-inclusive and include the following: three meals, lodging, all activities (unless otherwise noted), entertainment and complete use of the ranch facilities. Such items which are not included are: alcohol, private lessons, airport pick-up/drop-off, trap shooting, overnight pack trips, river rafting, Durango-Silverton train, etc. May through September (7 night minimum stay/Saturday to Saturday). Rates do not include 3.9 percent tax and 15 percent service charge on all guest plans and entire cost. To assure accommodations, reservations must be made in advance and confirmed upon receipt of 1/3 total amount due. The deposit must be received within ten days of making your reservation. The balance of the plan package is required at least 90 days prior to your arrival and before May 1. Up until February 1, reservations may be cancelled by either party and your deposit will be refunded in full. Gratuities are given by our guests as they may deem appropriate. Recommended gratuities are a total of $9.00 per guest person daily and will be equally and immediately distributed to all employees or as you may designate. All major credit cards accepted. The ranch is open all year long, it never closes.
